Now couple this fact with all the roadkill out there getting a second wind and you have a text book definition of a clusterfuck. This is the premise of a new web series titled, Zombie Roadkill and it stars none other than Thomas Haden Church.
Thomas Haden Church? It’s not a name that rolls off your tongue. You might remember him from the abysmal Spiderman 3 as Sandman. He was also in Sideways and if you check out his IMDB page, he’s been in a ton of other stuff as well.

He’ll play “a park ranger who partners with a teen (David Dorfman) to escape a portion of highway where roadkill is resurrected as flesh-eating zombie animals.” Don’t get too excited though — the series will only last six episodes, each of which will be four to five minutes each.

This sounds like it could be worth a watch. As always, more to come as I have it.

Many thanks to Brian for pointing out this really cool television show. Dead Set is a British television show about the making of a reality television show during the oubreak of a zombie infestation. The production values are quite high, the acting it great, and the show does a wonderful job at weaving the scores of characters into rich tapestry that’s both high in conflict and riveting to watch.
The first part of the episode is the basic setup of the show. It depicts the narcissistic characters who are featured on the show as well as the narcissistic people who actually run it. We don’t see our first zombie until near the end.

I gotta say, having worked for a national broadcast company for the past five years, I can say that although the television types are a bit over the top, there is some truth to them. I also laughed near the end when the driver of two production personnel pull over to investigate a crashed vehicle without the slightest rebuke from the already late personnel. Had it been real life, the driver would have been clubbed with a sandwich and told to continue. After all, someone else was “bound” to pull over.

In any case, great show so far. Hat’s off to Brian for the tip.

If you’ve always dreamed of seeing Natalie Portman star in a zombie film, you’re prayers have been answered. The BBC just announced that Portman will be starring and producing in the Jane Austen mashup of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. There’s also a brief mention of the followup prequel, Dawn of the Dreadfuls although there is no film version planned for it. Twenty bucks says they already sold the rights.
Is this a good thing? I’m not so sure. While Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was a clever idea, it’s one of those things that grow stale kind of fast. Still, you can’t beat people in Victorian England getting eaten alive, so I’m gonna have to call it a draw. As for Portman herself, I’d rather see her as a zombie than zombie killer, but that’s just personal preference (or penance for the Star ...

For those of you who are fans of the mega hit Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, you get to watch your favorite piece of fiction translated into a low budget television series whereby everything you liked about the book will be distilled into a passing comment by a side character who was never in the book in the first place. I kid, of course. But not by much.
Actually, I’m a big fan a well funded television treatments. It’s the best way to present books because the format gives filmmakers the time to explore the work. For example, you simply cannot catch the spirit of War and Peace in a two hour movie, but the BBC nailed it in their twenty part television adaption (which featured a very young Anthony Hopkins at the start of his rather successful career).
