Dead SetTensions mount inside the house as well as outside of it as the production ramps up for the elimination selection. As the big moment approaches, members of the crew notice their phones have ceased to function because of a downed network. A breaking news event that threatens to destroy their ratings, leaving everyone in a state of high anxiety.

Elsewhere, the limousine driver who was shepherding some talent to the production fights for his life as copious amounts of blood gush from a nasty wound on his neck. One woman tries to call the hospital, finding the lines all dead.

Zombie Roadkill Coming to FearNet

Zombie RoadkillLet’s face it. It is going to be hard to enough to when all of our former friends, family, and neighbors become mindless flesh eating corpses. Now couple this fact with all the roadkill out there getting a second wind and you have a text book definition of a clusterfuck. This is the premise of a new web series titled, Zombie Roadkill and it stars none other than Thomas Haden Church.

Deat Set – Episode One, Part One

Dead SetMany thanks to Brian for pointing out this really cool television show. Dead Set is a British television show about the making of a reality television show during the oubreak of a zombie infestation. The production values are quite high, the acting it great, and the show does a wonderful job at weaving the scores of characters into rich tapestry that’s both high in conflict and riveting to watch.

The first part of the episode is the basic setup of the show. It depicts the narcissistic characters who are featured on the show as well as the narcissistic people who actually run it. We don’t see our first zombie until near the end.

Natalie PortmanIf you’ve always dreamed of seeing Natalie Portman star in a zombie film, you’re prayers have been answered. The BBC just announced that Portman will be starring and producing in the Jane Austen mashup of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. There’s also a brief mention of the followup prequel, Dawn of the Dreadfuls although there is no film version planned for it. Twenty bucks says they already sold the rights.

Is this a good thing? I’m not so sure. (more…)

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Television

Pride and Prejudice and ZombiesFor those of you who are fans of the mega hit Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, you get to watch your favorite piece of fiction translated into a low budget television series whereby everything you liked about the book will be distilled into a passing comment by a side character who was never in the book in the first place. I kid, of course. But not by much.

Actually, I’m a big fan a well funded television treatments. It’s the best way to present books because the format gives filmmakers the time to explore the work. For example, you simply cannot catch the spirit of War and Peace in a two hour movie, but the BBC nailed it in their twenty part television adaption (which featured a very young Anthony Hopkins at the start of his rather successful career).
