Left 4 Dead News-a-Palooza
This past week has brought us a ginormous amount of updates on the popular zombie, cough, infected killing video game, Left 4 Dead. The first big item was the release of The Sacrifice which lets players decide who gets to live and who gets to die. Normally, this choice is a rather easy one for my team. Too far ahead? Too bad. Too far behind. Tough luck. Off to the side and hidden by some shrubbery. Tough titties. Now that there is a achievement to be earned, I imagine there will be epic gunfights to determine who gets to commit suicide. I gave the campaign a spin this morning and found it to be adequate. Is it worth the … Read entire article »

The Sacrifice Proves to be an Excellent Online Zombie Comic
By the time you read this, hopefully we’ll be in the best month of the year … you know … the time of year when you can cover yourself in bloody entrails and walk down the street without worrying about the cops pounding on your door. You can put severed heads on your lawn and instead of having of the swat team lining outside your house, children from all around the block will be excited to visit you. Oh yes … the month of Hallow-effing-ween. The great time of year when zombies go mainstream. What better way to get your zombie blood pumping than by reading the excellent comic book adaption of Left 4 Dead. I gotta say, it’s nice to see comic inspired from a video … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead One – I Hate Mountains
In Valve’s original Left 4 Dead, hardcore biker Francis turns out to be quite a charmer in the fact that there is nothing he really likes. Walk into a train yard, and he mentions that he hates trains. Stroll into the hospital, and he lets everyone know his distaste for them. One has to wonder if there is anything that Francis does likes. Truth be told, some people have discovered that our pessimist biker enjoys both lasagna and the army. If you want to find out more, check out this link (it spawns a new window). So I imagine if you told Francis that there is a new campaign for the original Left 4 Dead, he’d probably tell you that he would hate it which … Read entire article »

Stuff Francis Hates
Old time Left 4 Dead players (yes, if you’ve played Left 4 Dead 1, you are now considered an old time player) have become used to hating antics of zombie killer Francis. He pretty much hates everything. Walk into the hospital, he’ll mention that he hates Hospitals. Find yourself walking down some derelict train tracks and he’ll mention his distaste towards locomotives. In fact, it’s hard, maybe even impossible to find something that Francis likes. Well, one YouTuber contends to have found the answer and while it is a somewhat juvenile conclusion, the actual list of what Francis hates is pretty funny. … Read entire article »

There’s One Born Every Minute (Zombies, of course)
Zombies, love ‘em or hate ‘em, have a particularly nasty habit of rising from the dead and eating our loved ones. Granted, they bring much joy to some people who would love nothing more than returning them from whence they came, Dirty Harry style. But for those of us just trying to get by, zombies can put a nasty funk on an otherwise good day. Video game site Kotaku has recently did a write up on the zombie apocalypse origin, noting how people have become “more” focused on the cause as opposed to the result. In summation, the article is saying that the people need to know why the dead has risen in order to suspend disbelief. The author then goes on to question some people in … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead: A Whole New Different Kind of Choice
If there we a game studio I would work for in a second, it would be Valve. Since the release of Half Life, they have been producing awesome games. My best friend puts it best. “Valve,” he says. “Is the only game company that I’d buy a sixty dollar game without reading a review or even reading what the game was about.” So Valve, if you need some writing help, you can find me over here … I’m just saying ;) … Read entire article »

The Only Left 4 Dead Mod You’ll Ever Need
If you are one of the players out there who have been still enjoying Left 4 Dead 1 on your PC, you should do yourself a favor and check out this mod. Really, this is the only mod that needs to be installed. It’s just that good. What does it do? In a nutshell, whenever the tank appears onscreen, it does away with the scary tank music and replaces it with the Benny Hill chase music. Simply amazing. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. Left 4 Dead Mod (Benny Hill Tank Music) (youtube.com … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead Raging on the Mac
There’s some great news for all you Mac users out there. Valve just announced that they will be porting Left 4 Dead to the Mac. This, in itself, is not very interesting but the big brains at Valve have incorporated the Mac into their build process, meaning Mac users will now be able to play future Steam games on the same day as the PC release. Steam games? That’s right, Steam is also being ported to the Mac. It will be available for Mac users with the launch of Portal 2. … Read entire article »

New Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 DLC Coming
I just read this article over at Kotaku which is talking about the new content coming for Left 4 Dead 2. As previously stated, the DLC is known as The Passing in which the old survivors meet the new survivors and they all go out to dinner together. Actually, there isn’t much mentioned except that the survivors meet in the third mission of the DLC whereby they kill a lot of zombies. Once the DLC is released, Valve also plans to release a digital comic which purports to give some explanation of the character’s back story, giving you further motivations to smash Ellis in the face with a shotgun. … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead before there was Left 4 Dead
Just imagine. In some alternate dimension, the excellent game of Bioshock would be slated for some nebulous release (although completely different) and Left 4 Dead would be considered a pale knock of a game called Division 9. That’s how history might have played out had Irritational Games decided to greenlight their own first person zombie shooter. Instead, I get to kill zombies with a skillet. Here’s the scoop according to GamePro: … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead Wii Style
Taking on a zombie horde is tough enough with a mouse and keyboard, now imagine fighting the legions of undead by moving your arms wildly in the air as if someone put a rattlesnake in your underwear. Valve, along with a bunch of other companies, are currently developing a motion control scheme, similar to the Wii, for the PC. From the sound of this article, it appears to be far along. Here’s a little snippet: … Read entire article »
