Wanna Kill a Tank in Left 4 Dead 2? Use a Skillet.
In the original Left 4 Dead, killing the tank was a dicey affair. You really needed an auto-shotgun to the job which pretty much determined the team’s weapon choice in a versus match. With Left 4 Dead 2, things have changed quite a bit. Kotaku has just linked up some home grown research on tank killing and the results are rather surprising. I knew the melee weapons were powerful, but looking at the chart, you can you see the power of each weapon in plain numbers. In short, skillet trumps shotgun every time. Ten hits will take the wanna be baseball player down. … Read entire article »

Zombies Going Cheap at Amazon
Great news from video game site Kotaku. If you haven’t loaded your shotgun and killed zombies by the score, this is a great time to pick up Left 4 Dead 2. The PC version is selling a mind boggling price of thirty bucks whereas the XBox version costs forty bucks. Kotaku made the excellent point that if you’re under the belief that Left 4 Dead 2 is an expansion pack, well, now it’s down to expansion pack prices. Normally, a triple A title doesn’t drop so fast. It usually lingers at its initial price for a good six months before the price takes the plunge (unless we’re talking Call of Duty – the previous title still costs sixty bucks) so I’m guessing this is only a temporary … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead 2 Getting All Patched Up
To all of you Left 4 Dead 2 fans who are getting crushed because of random glitches, salvation is coming to you in the form of a Valve patch. Being a PC centric company, Valve is pushing out the patch to Steam users first, and once approved by Microsoft’s byzantine approval process, it should make its way to the XBox later this month. What does it mean for us XBox users? Less than month of heaven or hell, depending on how your play. Truthfully, the holes that the game is fixing don’t seem all that bad. For instance, Valve is lowering the acid dissipation time when survivors are stuck in an elevator and up to their knees in “goo”. I never even thought of … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead 2: Bored with the Special Infected? Make Your Own.
In case you needed another reason to pick up Left 4 Dead 2 for your computer, Kotaku is reporting that Valve is releasing an updated software development kit that allow modders to create new characters, new weapons, and now, new infected. Mind you, not just the kind of infected that preform Hell’s Angel’s CPR on your head, but uncommon common infected and of course, special infected. In short, modders now have access to create a truly customized zombie apocalypse. From the article: … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead 2 Gingerbread Cookies
Who would have thought boomer bile could taste so good? One enterprising soul, in both the Christmas and zombie spirit, decided to make gingerbread cookies with a Left 4 Dead 2 theme. Each major special infected zombie is represented. I particularly enjoyed the spitter and the charger’s deformed arm looks absolutely tasty. The problem with eating one of the Left 4 Dead 2 zombies is that once your sink your teeth into one, you just can’t stop. ooey-gooey left 4 dead 2 gingerbread zombies (technabob.com … Read entire article »

Need Help in Left 4 Dead 2? Invite Some Friends. All Fifteen of the Them.
If you’ve played Left 4 Dead 2, then you’ll know that Valve has really ramped up the difficulty. Whereas Normal mode used to be a cake walk, it now can be filled with moments of white knuckled terror. I haven’t even attempted advanced difficulty which is hilarious because advanced used to be my bread and butter in the first game. Well some busy bee over on the PC side of things modded the game to allow you to play sixteen person co-op. Yes. Sixteen survivors. Watching the video and you’ll see that the group is a walking firing squad. They make quick work of the first level in Dead Center although there appears to be more survivors than infected. If you have this game … Read entire article »

Left 4 Dead 2 Characters in Left 4 Dead 1
If you are a PC owner of Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2, then you certainly do have an early Christmas present. A few smart modders have figured out a way not only to import the new Left 4 Dead 2 characters into game, but also the new infected and new weapons. So if you have a hankering to go head to head with a charger in the small office cubicles of Dead Air, this is definitely your night. Alas, this is not an official Valve modification so be prepared a lot of stability issues and it also requires you to be a bit technical to implement the mod. Still, it sounds great and hopefully, we’ll see some official mod coming from Valve soon. Left 4 … Read entire article »

Zombies Go Wild in Left for Dead 2
Looks like not just the zombies are going wild, but the reviewers are as well. Gamedaily just published their review on the game and they sing high praises over the death and destruction that occurs in Valve’s apocalyptic world. Granted, they did have some issues: Although the game’s a brain splattering good time, we still don’t understand why Valve refuses to allow users to aim down the sights of a weapon, instead of always shooting from the hip. It gets the job done most of the time, but we feel everyone’s accuracy would improve if they could line up their shots. On top of that, the game may grow repetitive sooner than expected, simply because the objectives never change. You’ll always battle the same monsters while achieving the same goals, … Read entire article »
