Yeah … writers can be pretty brutal to one another which is really stupid since it is such a lonely profession. But yeah, from day one of my writing studies, I’ve always been warned against the “evils” self publishing. It’s pretty silly.

Good call, Nicole, I back you up on that 100%. Of course, at time time I have plans on being self-published so I’m kinda’ biased…

Still, I figure a writer is a writer. There are good ones, bad ones, and everything in the middle. Anybody who finishes a novel gets props, as far as I’m concerned. Being published, by oneself of by a recognized publishing house, is super cool.

If you’re a writer (I’m going to check your links in case you’re a blogger or novelist), I wish you the best in all you do. Respect.

I had no idea that there was a prejudice against self published authors. That seems really stupid. “You’re motivated to succeed and prosper (or at least try) and you have so much faith in your book that you’re willing to publish it yourself…SCUMBAG!!! HOW DARE YOU!?” I mean, seriously guys? A books value shouldn’t be measured by anything other than whether or not you enjoyed it.

I read a zombie novel with a female lead (ultra badass one, too) recently that was nothing less than awesome. The title was Rise Again written by Ben Tripp. I was impressed with the realism of the characters, the consistency of the plot, and some seriously gritty scenes. Best of all, though, was the ending. I love a good ending and this one left me wanting more.

I’d highly recommend it to any of the elite clan of zombie awareness professionals (Z.A.P <—not a real organization).

It's funny that you didn't mention the rapidly degrading Resident series. The first two were pretty good, the last two…not so much. In fact, I'd have to go so far as to say they sucked. The fourth was hardly worth watching. Sad, they were off to such a good start.

I’ve only read the first of the four parts of your story but the first part is quite good. Lots of intriguing phrases that made me want to keep reading. Already starting to get people to empathize with the Andy character. Nicely done. I look forward to reading more and perusing your site.

I tried to get into both versions of the book. I’m more excited about the movie now that I know “ms. hot but can’t act to save her life” isn’t doing the movie. She probably decided she was too good for a zombie flick when she landed her role in Black Swan.

Suffice to say, yeah, I agree that the old man has lost the magic of his early days. I’m starting to view it a bit like I do with George Lucas: cherish the past, ignore the present.
