Cuisine Week at The Zed Word
Sunday, March 14th, 2010
When popular zombie blog The Zed Week celebrates an event known as Cuisine Week, you can sure as hell bet that it is going to be interesting. I can tell you straight-out that your favorite foods will definitely not be on the menu. In fact, there is only one item to be served. And that’s you. Very rare and very bloody. Tartare to the extreme.
So what is happening over at the Zed Word? Straight from the zombie’s mouth:
Fearnet’s Zombie Fest
Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010
It’s beginning to look at a lot like zombies in here. And thank god, because this Thursday is a rather special one for one person out there. Good old George Romero is turning seventy which is, from what I hear, the new thirty.
To celebrate George’s birthday, Fearnet is planning a lot of zombie related content. From the article:
Zombiephiles.com Going User-Generated
Sunday, January 17th, 2010
Maintaining a zombie blog can be hard work. In an ideal world, it would be all about the content, but truth be told, there’s a lot of marketing, a lot of site maintenance, and a lot of small “one-offs” that eat into the actual time reserved for blogging.
For those of you who just want to write and forget about the rest, you will be happy to know that zombie news site, Zombiephiles.com is going user generated. All you need to do is create an account, then start writing some articles. Once submitted, the site owner will act as an editor by fixing typos and other low hanging fruit, then publish it on his site.
Zombies Workshop
Friday, January 15th, 2010
The Zombies Workshop is a gathering place for zombie fanatics to share survival strategies, talk zombies, and well, get to know one another. It’s kind of a facebook for zombie lovers. And there is a ton of content on it.
There’s also a pretty active forum tied in nicely with the rest of the site. A lot of websites (like my own) are a collection of different open source utilities that talk the same language in different dialects which makes it incredibly challenging to have a unified experience. (more…)
Little Shop of Zombies
Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Years ago, you might have bumped into Erin Rose Tollefsen at a craft fair, showing off her latest hand crafted zombie keepsakes. Thankfully, finding her today doesn’t involve much searching. She’s just a few keypresses away in her virtual shop called Little Shop of Zombies.
This is a website for the zombie craft lover. She sells some standard things like mousepads and coffee cups, but the fun really begins once you dive into her Etsy shop. There’s a brain pendent with a nice bite taken out of it. Or how about the Eye-Scream cone pendent which is a detached eyeball atop a bloody cone.
Buy Zombie’s Romero Zombie Review
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Buy Zombie, an excellent source of zombie news and events, is running a feature right now about the evolution of our undead counterparts from Night of the Living Dead all the way through Land of the Dead. There’s a lot of interesting stuff in it, specifically related to Land of the Dead. I must say, I only saw the movie once so I missed a lot of the subtle details. From the article:
It was also during this movie that we get the characterization of yet another zombie character known as Big Daddy, who is like Bub 2.0 where he tries to act like a car station mechanic but regular people still see him as a dead person. (more…)
Sometimes, It Pays to Be a Zombie
Monday, December 21st, 2009
I must admit that I know nothing about this website. I bumped into it via. Twitter with a tweet proclaiming that next year is going to be the year for Z-Prepared. Thus, introducing the Z-Girls who are scantily clad zombie killers who look to model first, then kill zombies second. There’s not much said about this photoshoot except that each of the women will receive site bios soon, making me think they are being positioned as bloggers, or product pushers.
Zombie and Toys December Giveaway: Zombie Pinups!
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
If you are looking for free zombie themed loot, the best place to head on the web is the web site titled, Zombie and Toys. Not only relating news about the undead, Zombie and Toys also reviews all the different albeit strange zombie merchandise that can be found in store shelves. Every month, the site hosts between two or three giveaways of unique stuff.
This month’s giveaway is the 2010 Calender of Zombie Pinups. This is a pretty clever calender. Each month shows a different model replicating a pose from the fifties, except unlike her fifties counterpart, the model has been thoroughly zombiefied. (more…)
Zombie Tools – The Blacksmiths of the Post Apocalypse
Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
When the zombie apocalypse does come, you’re going to need plenty of tools. Not just ordinary tools. But zombie tools. Thankfully, there is a site that is providing such tools early so there is plenty of time to stock up on them.
So what tools might these be? Rope? Maybe a sleeping bag with mosquito repellent? Nope. Knives. More like machetes really.
So who are these guys. From the FAQ:
We are swordsmen and metalsmiths who create blades, and soon, other gear, that will increase your odds of surviving a zombie apocalypse. (more…)
Death of a Zombie Giant
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009
You wouldn’t think that a zombie forum with thousands upon thousands of forum members with scores of posts a day would be in trouble of ceasing to exist. Yet, that’s the very predicament of popular zombie site All Things Zombie. Established sometime in 2003, the site was designed to be a one stop shop for zombies and in some ways, the site managed to achieve some of these ambitious goals.
Zombies and Toys November Promotion
Monday, November 2nd, 2009
If you have an Iphone or an Ipod touch, you might want to swing over to Zombies and Toys. The November promotion over there is a free copy of … and I’m not making this up … Attack of the Zombie Bikini Babes from Outer Space. There’s a little trailer you can watch for the game and it is just jaw droppingly weird. In it, you play a survivor who is being attacked by hordes of bikini clad zombies. Your weapon of choice? A slingshot. Not just one, but two of them. At some point, the zombies pause the assault to break into a dance number. You just can’t make this up. Here’s a snippet of the game’s features:
* Powerful slingshots, easy to use and lethal to aliens
* A selection of live ammo, and we mean LIVE — raccoons and skunks — in addition to assorted bombs and exploding projectiles
* A global view of who’s winning- the zombies or the resistance fighters
* A system for challenging your comrades to see who is most skilled
* An original soundtrack, surprising sounds and blood-curdling screams
You can enter the promotion over at Zombies and Toys to win the game, or if you are lazy like me, fork over the ninety nine cents to get your own copy. In either case … happy hunting.

Blog of the Living Dead
Friday, October 30th, 2009
My my oh my. I just stumbled into this German zombie website, and I gotta say, I kind dropped my jaw a little. In the same vein of Too Many Zombies, the site author has decided to sketch a zombie a day for an entire year. And trust me, anything is fair game. The artist seems to have a thing for Disney characters so there are images like Snow White battling a bunch of zombie dwarfs. There is a zombie Bambi eating the brain of shell shocked Thumper. The artist also takes the Simpson’s to task, showing a zombie Homer eating his own arm. There is a zombie Bart with skateboard in tote, and a zombie Lisa with a saxophone wedged in her bloody lips.
This is a fun, albeit, gruesome site where you can see all your favorite cartoon characters get eaten alive. Check out it. Just leave your innocence at the door.

More Zombie Art
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Here’s some more zombie art to fill your fancy. This site has a bunch of it. Ranging from rotting faces to undead superheroes, there are a lot of cool pictures. My favorite picture has got to be the first one. In it, an undead lawman walks the street with a shotgun on his shoulder and a hell beast at his side. Very friggin cool.

Zombile Daily
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
A zombie a day should keep the undertaker away. At least, that’s what I’m told. Well, if you are looking for good old fashioned flesh eaters, you should check out www.zombiedaily.com. This is a daily updating site that posts a new zombie every day. The pen behind the horror is none other than Rob Sacchetto who also runs another site that turns ordinary portraits into zombies. Some of his creations on Zombie Daily are downright right creepy with rotting zombies festering with maggot ridden wounds. This is great stuff if you be needing a daily zombie fix. Check it out.

The Zed Word
Friday, October 16th, 2009
If you are a lover of zombie blogs then you might want to head on over to the Zed Word. For one thing, the fella running the site is giving away a signed “Know Your Zombies” poster by artist and author, Rob Sacchetto (he also runs an excellent zombie portrait web site). Secondly, there’s a whole lot of zombie news. I’m not sure how long the site has been around, but if you are looking for a book review or movie review about the undead, you will certainly find it in what looks to be a library of information. It’s a daily updating site for author who is both thorough and articulate. This is a great site if you dig the dead. Check it out. Definitely worth a look or two.
