Too Many Zombies Coming to an End

Almost a year ago, Jay – the creator of Too Many Zombies, picked himself up an iPod Touch and upon playing with it, he found himself making zombies. Not one or two zombies. But lots of them. Somewhere along the line, the idea blossomed into a full website whereby he posted a zombie a day with accompanying story. If you have a preference for your undead to be splayed out on comic book pages as opposed to film or if you like comics in general, you might want to check out this article over at io9 which talks about the latest zombie infestations in comic books. There’s a lot of stuff in this article, but the most noteworthy thing is the fact that Image Comics is re-releasing the first episode of The Walking Dead for only a buck. Pride, Predjudice, and Zombies — The Graphic Novel

Every day, there appears to be news item about the breakout hit Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies. First there was the announcement of a film, starring Natalie Portman. Soon, we have the prequel Dawn of the Dreaduls, hitting stores in only a couple of weeks (review coming shortly). And now, we have a graphic novel based off the book. Zombies are truly everywhere these days. I will say, zombies and comics go together like peanut butter and chocolate, so I am really looking forward to the release of this project. Also, the comic format allows the (re)writer to tone down a lot of the original Jane Austen prose which might raise some eyebrows from the literary crowd, but will certainly be a relief to the zombie loving one. … Read entire article »

Zombie Ranch Going Strong

Even when the world is claimed by the legions of the dead, life still must move onwards. In fact, when it does move on, the living sometime need to take the dead with them. Such is the case with Zombie Ranch. We’ve seen these types of situations before in movies like Fido and American Zombie, but the twist in this tale is that the zombies who reside on this ranch are nothing but livestock. Captured for both their blood and rodeo work, Zombie Ranch follows the ranchers in their day to day lives from the perspective of a reality television show. When zombies are bought they are both tagged and branded. The branding helps for the eyeball recognition, while the tagging prevents any escapes a … Read entire article »

Marvel Zombies Fan Made Trailer Kicks Serious Zombie Buttocks

If someone from Marvel were to give me a call and ask me for direction with their film studio, I would tell them to drop the Thor movie adaption like a dead hampster and immediately green light Mavel Zombies. Seriously. There would be no reason to hire big name actors or the stars who played some of the superheros in the past. Just hire any dude from art college, and the movie would be hit because the concept just sells itself. Thank god we don’t have to do wait for the clue stick to fall on one of the Marvel executives. Some talented filmmakers have ponied up the money and produced their own version. Granted, the movie is only two minutes long including the thirty seconds … Read entire article »

Fangoira Reviews”The Walking Dead”

I’ve only read one issue of the Walking Dead, and just mentioning it on this blog brought the fans out of the woodwork. The reaction caught me by surprise. I’ve heard of the comic prior to this site, but I had no idea about the fan’s passion for it. Fangoria gives the start of series a good look over with the release of the first compendium volume. This “bowling ball” (as Fangoria eloquently refers to it) contains the first forty eight issues of the series. The horror magazine was impressed with the bird’s eye view, remarking on the evolution of the series as a whole. … Read entire article »

Something Smells Rotten in Seattle

Many thanks to Joshua Michael Menard for giving me the head’s up about this article. It’s about the recent surge in comic books and how Seattle has been making quite a name for itself in popular culture. The zombie comic book trend is quite awesome. In fact, next month, there will be giveaway featuring one famous detective butting heads with the dead. In short, it comes down to the newcomer Seattle flexing its undead muscles as a mecca for the undead. Granted, the coffee drinking metropolis doesn’t have such landmarks as the Monroeville Mall or any settings in Romero’s films, but somehow, the city keep coming out on top. Too Many Zombies Going Strong

If you haven’t checked out this site yet, take a look. The website started off as an experiment for the site owner (I lost his name) this past June on an ipod touch. The idea was to create a zombie a day for an entire year. Since then, the site has been going strong posting seventy different zombies in their various states of demise. The pictures are pretty funny with descriptions on how each of them perished. For the attached image, the description reads, “Wanted to be buried in his best suit. Unfortunately, it was at the drycleaners and his wife lost the ticket. Well, at least she buried him. She had contemplated just putting him out with the rubbish. ” Great stuff. The Walking Dead

Some time in 2003, a zombie comic book graced the newsstands titled, “The Walking Dead”. It started a lengthy series which continues to this day. The comic has been in the news lately because AMC has been working to get it adapted as television series which is currently being helmed by Frank Darabont – best known for directing The Shawshank Redemption. I don’t know anything about the series except that is seems to have a pretty hardcore following behind it. Cruising through the web, I managed to find the first episode hosted online. The series starts like 28 Days Later. Police officer Rick wakes up in a hospital, having been in a coma for the past three weeks. He is shocked to find the hospital in … Read entire article »
