Zombie Christmas Review – Zombies and Christmas Go Together Like Rum and Eggnog
A couple of years ago, I remember trying to produce a mix tape that featured apocalyptic end of the world songs, but told in a happy upbeat fashion. I managed to compile about five songs before I threw my hands up in the air and barfed all over myself. People just aren’t happy to welcome the apocalypse. It’s all ballads and teary death. Cry. Cry. Kiss. Kiss. We all fall down. Is there anyone else besides me who want to die in their dancing boots? … Read entire article »

Toothless by JP Moore
Almost six years ago, I decided that I had my fill of Los Angeles, and drove back to my New England home over three thousand miles away. Except I didn’t take the direct path. I ended up driving to Alaska, down to Texas, up to the Dakotas, and finally due east. That three thousand mile journey ending up being twenty thousand miles. Before I left on my journey, I decided to collect a gazillion audiobooks and had I known there were zombie audiobooks, I would have been in seventh heaven. Introducing Toothless by JP Moore. It is historical zombie fiction in the same vein as De Bello Lemures, or the Roman War Against the Zombies of Armorica by Thomas Brookside. Here’s the description of the … Read entire article »

Bloody Disgusting Reviews Tonight of the Living Dead
This December is good one. We have all the holidays. Plenty of time off work. And yes, a free signed copy of 400 Lonely Things Tonight of the Living Dead. Check out the promotion over here and give it a listen. Horror website Bloody Disgusting interviewed Craig Varian – one of the founders of 400 Lonely Things – and talked about the production of the album at length. There are a lot of tasty nuggets of information in the writeup about about the album. For example, I’d like to mention that I avoided all of the dialog and the more obvious pieces of music and audio and kept this album strictly instrumental. For me, the scariest part of the film is Barbra’s few moments … Read entire article »

A Taste of Tonight of the Living Dead
As some of you may know already, December’s giveaway is a signed CD of Tonight of the Living Dead by 400 Lonely Things. This begs the question, what is Tonight of the Living Dead? Who better to answer this question than from 400 Lonely Things directly. From the official site: Crew and cast member Karl Hardman, under the editorial supervision of George Romero, used recordings by other composers from stock film music libraries – many of which had already appeared in other movies and television shows – and then augmented them electronically to form their own original score for Night of the Living Dead. 400 Lonely Things has extended this notion of augmentation by using mutated samples from the film itself (many with their excellent foley work intact) … Read entire article »
