The Walking Dead Season 2? Not So Much (For Now)
It’s hard to believe that while we wait for the release of the first season of The Walking Dead, there has been some crazy speculation regarding the production of the second one. Rumors have suggested that the next series will begin shooting in February.
Well, Frank Darabont splashed some cold water on the theory in a great old man Smithers impression that will certainly depress the hardest of the hardcore. “Shooting in February? As tired as I am right now getting season one through post, I’d rather shoot myself,”. Umm … no gray area there.
So the big question … will we see another season of this show? I’d be surprised if we didn’t. The series has generated a ton of hype and the comic appears to be beloved by many out there. I’m thinking the only way for us not to have a second season would be if Darabont just craps his pants with the production. And I’m not talking a little turd, but rather a big smelly dump of colossal proportions.
But wait, you say, that’s impossible. Darabont directed The Shawshank Redemption. The guy can do no wrong! To that I say, people thought George Lucas could no wrong until he made the most expensive Saturday morning cartoon ever made. And also, for every Shawshank Redemption that Darabont directed, there’s a Nightmare and Elm Street 3 and a Majestic just off into the wings that no one likes to talk about. I’m not saying the series will be bad. I’m just saying that anything goes. I do give him good odds based on the source material.
With less than two months to showtime, we shall see soon enough.

No big deal, Cable shows rarely follow the season schedule followed by the networks and large caps of time are common between seasons. Just because he doesn’t want to start shooting again in February doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be a season 2. So long as the shows numbers do well ad the sponsors are paying more than it costs to make the shows then AMC will continue to make it.
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 was one of my favorites…and I liked The Majestic. I mean, they were both a little weird…but…
I DID think The Green Mile was AWFUL though. As you said, we’ll just have to see. :)
