A World on Fire: State of the Zombie
This year has been an interesting year for sure in regards to the state of A World on Fire. By the start of the year, the site was going strong and by the time March swung around, I managed to complete the first draft of A World on Fire: Rage – the first book in a series about the rise of the dead.
April was the time for change, and for the following three months, the site suffered from a rather dramatic changes in my own life. The book, the site, everything zombie related took a backseat to a rather difficult transition. It was an excellent transition mind you, but any change – whether it be good or bad – can be painful. My two year old daughter reminds me of this fact on a daily basis.
So what’s the current plan now that the ducks are quacking in concert? Well, the site continues to press forward and in the next month or so, it will gradually shift it’s focus from a mere zombie reporting site into a rather content orientated hub of original zombie work. Instead of finding out where to go to find zombie content, I hope to bring it to you in the form of stories, movies, comics, and other creative works. Mind you, not just my work, but rather the work also the work of other tireless artists out there who would love nothing more than see the world be consumed by the walking dead. So, if you currently developing some zombie related material, feel free to reach out to me or expect an email soon.
On a technical note, you can expect an iPhone app (written entirely in-house) to be produced for this site and if you’ve been following the site in the past month, you would have noticed a bunch of changes. I’ve been doing a lot of rewriting on the backend components and I’m currently in the process of building a mobile friendly version of the site. In order to do that, I had rewrite all the markup so if you stumble into a strange bug, do let me know.
And what about the book? I’m at the point that I actually need readers so if you are interested in helping me with the project, I’d love to have your assistance. The book currently totals around three hundred pages which will probably end up being somewhere shy of two-fifty. I already have fresh pages for review so shoot me message if you’d like to take a stab at it.
In any case, thanks again for visiting the site. It carried me through a storm of tough times last year and I hope to return the favor in the form of good stories, bad jokes, and lots of dead people.
Cheers! Brian
