App of the Dead

App of the DeadThe fine folks over at Zombie Command have made a recent posting about the further antics of George Romero. Yes, he is promoting Survival of the Dead pretty hard right now. Yes, he is in development of two more zombie films. And yes, he is in the process of writing of two books. But did you know he is currently in development of an iPhone application?

On an aside, anyone who says life ends after retirement is pure hooey. Romero recently turned seventy and by conventional wisdom, he should be sitting at home, watching a marathon of Judge Judy. Instead, the guy is producing far more work than people half his age. I’m guessing George isn’t going to quit until he is a member of the walking dead, and even then, he’ll probably be carrying a camera with him. Maybe he’ll be writing a new screenplay, “Night of the Living People”. Who knows.

In any case, according to the article, the app looks to tap into the everyone’s hidden zombie. From the article:

* Capturing or importing a photo, followed by adding over 20 zombie features, including open wounds, weapons, and a large gallery of deformed eyes and mouth options.
* A custom engine that allows you to “shoot” your creations and experience the amazing blood-splatter effect.
* Save your zombie images to your phone, post them to a social networking website or e-mail them to others.

Sounds pretty cool. When it is release, I’ll make sure to give it a spin and share my thoughts.
