Great news for those of you who have pining for something new and different in the Left 4 Dead 2 universe. Valve just posted on the official Left 4 Dead blog that the upcoming DLC for Left 4 Dead 2, otherwise known as The Passing will be released next week. Good times, indeed.

For those out of the loop, The Passing is a piece of episodic content whereby the old survivors from Left 4 Dead 1 meet the new survivors of Left 4 Dead 2 and in the process, manage to get someone killed. From what I’ve read about the content, players will be put in a situation where one of the players must sacrifice their life for the rest of the team. I’m not quite sure how this will play out, but it sounds really interesting. The content will cost somewhere between five and ten bucks for XBox users. I’m guessing it is going to be a free update for PC users.

Oh, and for all of you Rock Band fans, Harmonix is releasing two tracks from The Midnight Riders who play the finale song on the final chapter of Dark Carnival. Those hoping for a freebie will be disappointed. This is Microsoft, after all. The tracks looks like to cost eighty points which translates into … er … something.
