Left 4 Dead: A Whole New Different Kind of Choice

The PassingIf there we a game studio I would work for in a second, it would be Valve. Since the release of Half Life, they have been producing awesome games. My best friend puts it best. “Valve,” he says. “Is the only game company that I’d buy a sixty dollar game without reading a review or even reading what the game was about.” So Valve, if you need some writing help, you can find me over here … I’m just saying ;)

In any case, with the release of the upcoming DLC, Valve is throwing an entirely new game mechanic into the mix and you’ll next guess what it is … wait for it. Death. That’s right. Someone is going to die in the next DLC and you’re job is figure out who it is. Mind you, this isn’t a nebulous voting affair, rather you or one of your friends must choose to die. From the article:

While the original survivor’s death will be readily apparent in the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC, the Left 4 Dead 1 downloadable content will have players working through the events leading up to the death, which will require someone on your four-player team must make the ultimate sacrifice.

The question is … who’s it gonna be? (not it) :)

    WOW! I think I was quoted! ;)

I’ll make that sacrifice if it gets me an achievement.

    *****Spoiler warning****

It’s not clear that anyone of the characters from Left 4 Dead 2 will die. Only a character from 1. I am hoping each time you play the game that a random character will die in both Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 DLC. In the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC the L4D 2 characters only meet three of the original characters. The 4th is already dead by the time they meet up. (Death will be shown in DLC L4D1) This gives a whole new meaning to the title The Passing. The passing to mean they are passing/meeting up with each other and it means the passing/death of a character.
