Video Footage from Upcoming Left 4 Dead DLC

Left 4 Dead: The PassingMany thanks to the soon be dead zombie hunter, Jamie (today is Tuesday night fights, after all). Rock, Paper, Shotgun has posted a couple of videos for the upcoming downloadable content for the Xbox and PC. The content takes place over three maps with the old survivors of the original Left 4 Dead giving the new survivors a new mission, and later, a little help. There were some interesting revelations in the video.

For one, there’s a new M60 weapon which quite simply turns zombies in oozing piles of meat. Alas, the gun itself has a fixed limit of ammo without any hopes of reloading so it is very much like the chainsaw of ranged weapons. There’s also a golf club to be used as a melee weapon although I didn’t get a chance to see it.

Interesting still, we get to see how Valve’s very own Chet “I dare you to pronounce my last name” Faliszek plays the game. He’s all about “investment” when it comes to helping his team. At the beginning of the match, we he notices a teammate is all chewed up, he quips, “normally when I see someone this low on health an the beginning of the map, my med pack is better suited for myself”. It made me think about how good teams can be tanked with one player.

Normally, if I’m getting ripped a new one in a versus game and my teammates are too far ahead, I’ll just tell them go ahead of me, but has anyone deliberately sent a fully healthy player to their doom to distract or even slowdown the enemy? If one person can hold off two special infected for just a little a bit, there might be plenty of time for the other three to make it out. Even getting smoked, it takes time for the player to die. Just thinking.

In any case, check out the vids. They are pretty cool.
