Survival of the Dead Gets Release Date (kind of)
Here’s some breaking news which doesn’t really say a whole lot. George Romero’s twitter feed which has been dormant for months, tweeted about a set release date of Surivival of the Dead. Clicking on the Variety link reveals that Magnet (the distributor) has set a spring date, so keep your weekends free between April 21st to June 21st.
The other interesting thing to note is that the movie will be used to sell an upcoming VOD (video on demand) service that should be debuting soon. This service will feature Survival of the Dead an entire month before its theatrical release. You’ll be able to recognize the VOD’ers because they’ll be mouthing all the dialogue in the theater.
I’m not too sure, but this sounds like Survival of the Dead is to be the first movie to be made available in the people’s homes before the actual theatrical release. I must say, that is an interesting sell for the upcoming service. More to come as I have it.
