Interview with We’re Alive Creators Kc Wayland and Shane Stalk – Part Three
We’re Alive is the best zombie audio production out there today. Conceived and produced by two friends with a passion for film and zombies, We’re Alive is a stunning achievement of a production that juggles a score of characters in a world gone to hell. Listening to this show is bittersweet. One moment, I’m captivated by the many characters and the web of relationships. The next moment, the show ends and I have to wait for the next episode.
Series creators KC Wayland and Shane Stalk took time out of their schedule to answer some questions that I sent to them about the series.
Note … if you haven’t listened to this show yet, stop reading and head over here. The shows are free to download.
How much work does it take to produce an episode? How long does it take? What’s the process of putting everything together?
From conceptualizing to first draft to previewing to print editing to final draft to recording to voice cut to editing to second editing to previewing to final edit to release, plus with our regular full time jobs, we don’t sleep much.
Do you create your own sound effects?
It depends on the sound effect. We have a vast catalog of sound effects, but we rely on some specific sounds that we create on a sound stage.
The music is incredible, How is it produced?
Some is scored, some is sampled, and some is from our royalty-free library,
Where do you see the series going?
As our listenership grows, we plan on advancing to radio broadcasting, Eventually, we hope to jump mediums to television, At the moment, we plan on
continuing the pod-cast series to at least three seasons.
Will we ever see this in stores?
Right now we love to provide We’re Alive free to listeners, With a little help from sponsors and our pockets we can continue to do so, However, we’d love to be able to do this full-time.
