Sad News – Zombie Author Z.A. Recht has Passed Away

Plague of the DeadSad news today. Premuted Press author Z.A. Recht has recently passed. Recht was the author of Plague of the Dead and Thunder and Ashes and held in high esteem by his readership. As of now, there has been official statement of his passing, but a woman claiming to his sister wrote the following on his official message boards:

I cant believe that no one is taking me seriously right now. I know it is hard to believe because I have never posted on here before but my name is Alison Recht and I am Z’s little sister! I can tell you anything you want to know about him! And no their will not be services at Beth El, our synagog. As of right now the plan is to have a memorial service for him in Feb, around his birthday. If you need me to confirm any information please like I said before message me on facebook and I will call you. I know how much this site meant to Zach and am trying to relay information that I feel no one else can tell you. This has truly been the worst day of my life. I would NEVER write something like this if it was not true.

Sounds pretty legit to me. My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends. The holidays can be hard times indeed.

RIP Zach, You will never be forgotten (morningstarsaga.websitetoolbox.com <- new window)

im so sorry for your loss he was a great writer and he will be sorely missed by all his fans. I was wondering is their any other writer going to finish his morningstar strain trilogy because it would be a shame not to.

Hi Steve, I’m sure his family would thank you for your condolences. Personally, I’ve never encountered Z.A. Recht professional or otherwise, but reading all the letters from various people, it appears he touched a lot of people. I look forward to reading his work albeit with a heavy heart.

Oh my god. I can’t believe it. I only discovered his book recently and was hoping he wrote me. This is a great loss to the literature world. My prayers are with his family and friends.

I am a big fan of horror fiction, especially the Zombie genre. Over the past couple of years I ave come across advertisements for Z.A Rechts Morningstar saga on sites like Amazon. I dislike buying books online, instead I prefer the old fashion method of browsing books in stores and getting a feel for the writer by studying excerpts of the book. For this reason alone I had never read one of Zach’s books. Yesterday I came across a copy of Plague of the Dead in Waterstones and bought it immediately. I have just finished the book and I must say I was very impressed with the quality of the writing and the story. I have just broken my own rule and ordered Thunder and Ashes from Amazon.
I is a great pity that a writer so young, who showed so much promise, is taken from the world. My thoughts go to his family.
I hope that someone will take up the mantle and complete the saga.
