The Last Night on Earth Board Game

The Last Night on EarthI love board games. There’s something about being with a group of people, sipping down some beers, and moving some strange colored tokens around a board that makes me have a good time. Maybe it’s all the smack talk in person or the infectious laughter after a bad turn, but playing board games in person trumps any video game with exception Rock Band.

Here’s a new zombie board game if you like board games as much as I do. I haven’t played this one, but watching the video review embedded on the page, it looks to be quite similar to the mega awesome Zombies!!! game. Two to six players undertake a variety of different scenarios from trying to defend a manor to saving the town to just plain old killing zombies. The board is modular, allowing for different setups each time which makes for some interesting encounters.

It sounds like a fun game to play in a large group. The reviewers only complaint was that it tends to get confusing when two people are playing the zombies. The one thing that I note is that there are not a lot of zombies included in the game. The great thing about Zombies!!! was that after a couple of turns, the entire town was covered in the dead whereas in this game, the zombies appear to be thin in numbers.

If anyone has this game, drop a word and tell me what you think. Is it worth the fifty bucks (?!) or should people just play Rock Band instead?

Definitely get Last Night on Earth. It’s MUCH better than Zombies because of the opposing teams and the ability to run multiple scenarios. I also love the fact that your characters are all individual – with specific cards making some characters better than others (e.g. Faith for the Priest).

As for the complaint about confusion, I’ve never found it a problem for the Zombie players. And the number of zombies seems more than enough – the actual game board size is quite a bit smaller than ‘Zombies’; especially compared to it in the later stages.

Wow … thanks for the insight. You’ve certainly peaked my interest. I’ll definitely give it go but I can’t promise I’ll play the soundtrack while I play ;)
