Post Apocalyptic Disneyland
io9 is having a lot of fun today with the apocalypse. Although it is titled “Post Apocalyptic Disney World” there is one of picture of the great amusement park in ruins. The rest of the pictures detail a whole bunch of famous landmarks in various states of decay. Personally, the most interesting apocalyptic site I have ever visited was the torn up tracks of a train in the San Gabriel Mountains. The tracks led to the cement remnants of a hotel that overlooked Pasadena. By the time the train stopped its run, it had carried an estimated three million people up the mountain to the hotel. Standing in the empty foundation with nary a soul in sight, it has hard believe such people even existed. I guess the moral of the story is that there are always pocketed states of the apocalypse even though civilization moves forward.
