A World on Fire - A Zombie Blog

Do Zombies Represent Our Fear of Technology?

ZombiesJason Turner over at Forbes.com must have woke up the other day and realized that zombies are kind of a hot commodity right now. So, he penned an article about the history of zombies, specifically in relation to our fears. He claims that zombies are the embody of fears of progress in the same way Godzilla personified the Japanese fears of nuclear technology. I personally think that Turner had a deadline to write, got himself liquored up the night before it was due, and passed out watching zombie and Godzilla movies. He does mention that zombie movies speak to the survivalist in us, and I think that is close to the mark. After all, when people see zombie flicks, they usually don’t leave talking about the gore, but rather “what they would do” if put in that situation.

In any case, it’s an interesting read, especially coming from a publication like Forbes.
