Zombie Nation

The Zombie NationVisiting Zombie Nation, you are greeted by a splash page that states the old Romero adage, “When there is no room in hell, the zombie nation will rise.” And rise it does. Clicking on the forum link, you’ll be greeted by an active community twenty thousand members strong. Conversations about the dead range the spectrum from books, movies, and of course, old man George himself. The site is a cleaner zombie site then most. I find then when visiting a lot of zombie sites is that the site designer often times wishes to emulate the dark look and feel zombie movies. While this may make an initial good first impression, it can be somewhat burdensome if you spend any amount of time there.

Zombie Nation’s community appears to be a friendly one which is a huge huge plus. You’d think people would be open minded over fictional creatures, but my god, I’ve seen too many flamewars erupt over what “is” and what “is not” a zombie. For instance, at AllThingsZombie.com, you take your life in your hands if you declare 28 Days Later to be a zombie film.

This might sound a little wussy, but I appreciate the toned down avatars used by the community. I like my gore like any other zombie fan, but I hate seeing a person cleaved in half as being an avatar or some other mutilated creature. For one thing, it makes the site work safe, but also, I’m not so distracted by the image so I can focus on the words. Again, I may be a wuss in this regard.

As for Zombie Nation’s main website, it looks like it hasn’t been updated in some time. Still, if you are looking to meet other undead enthusiasts, this looks to be a prime place to do it.
